BIOGRAPHY

I’d like to welcome you to my little corner of the internet and thank you for stopping by to explore my work. I suppose the all-important question is why am I here and why should you care? After graduating from high school I went straight to college and then directly to work as a mechanical engineer. I have always loved designing things and coming up with the solution to complex problems is something I live for, but after a decade in the industry I felt something was missing in my life. I realized that I have been working my ass off for too long and began to wonder what it was all for if all I’m going to do is work. You see, as an American we are taught to work our entire lives, acquire personal wealth, get married, have kids, and live happily ever after. Although perhaps a little late to the party, I realized that was not the path for me and I began to think of ways to branch out and acquire other forms of happiness. That is when I discovered the wonderful world of photography and what started out as a hobby quickly became a passion that happily consumes much of my life. In addition, I realized that many Americans work their entire lives in hopes that one day they will retire and see the world. I thought, why am I waiting around my entire life to spend my last year’s enjoying it? So…at the age of thirty-four, I began saving every penny I could so that I could take a year off and see the world. I sold or gave away many of my possessions, said goodbye to friends and family, and set off on a year-long around the world expedition. While doing so I decided to take things one step further and take on a 365 photography project that entitled me to post a photograph on Facebook every day for an entire year. It was perhaps the hardest thing I have ever done, but in the end it was the most rewarding as well. The culmination of my year of travel and the nearly fifty thousand images I managed to capture formed the ground work for this website and the photographs you see in my portfolio. It is only a beginning and I expect to add hundreds more over the coming years as well as share the wealth of travel knowledge I attained during my trip. I hope you will follow along and enjoy the ride…
